Play on TV and an audio picker

Send an episode to Otavue TV and use your phone as the remote, pick the audio language right on a show's page, and get a daily note from your favourite characters.

    NEW

    • Play on TV: pair Otavue TV on an Android TV box by scanning its code, then cast from the player. Your phone becomes the remote, and the next episode is ready on the TV.
    • An audio language picker on a show's page, with how many episodes each language has.
    • Daily messages from characters like Naruto, Frieren or Anya, which you can switch on during setup or in Settings.

    IMPROVED

    • In a watch party, nobody can pick an avatar someone else already uses, and your account picture stands in for one.
    • Watching the same episode from another source no longer counts twice in Rankings.
  2. v0.1.1

    Release on GitHub

Episode art, smarter progress and more subtitles

Episodes now show their stills and titles, an accidental tap no longer marks anything watched, and the player opens in landscape with more ways to get subtitles.

    NEW

    • Episode thumbnails, titles and short summaries in the episode list.
    • Load subtitles from a file on your phone (.srt, .vtt or .ass) or find them online from the player.
    • Move subtitles earlier or later when they're out of sync.
    • Skip intro and outro on Spanish and French episodes, and filler marks for them too.
    • A rotate button in the player for watching in portrait.

    IMPROVED

    • The player opens in landscape, whichever way you hold the phone.
    • Every episode keeps its own place, so going back to one picks up where you left it.

    FIXED

    • Opening a later episode by mistake no longer marks earlier ones watched, or sends that to AniList or MyAnimeList.
    • Going back to an episode no longer resets its progress to 0.
    • Episode lists no longer show "EP 1" next to a title that just says "Episode 1".
  3. v0.1.0

    Release on GitHub

    The first public release

Otavue's first build for everyone: anime, manga and light novels in one app, with watch parties, offline downloads and AniList and MyAnimeList sync.

    NEW

    • Stream anime with a gesture-driven player, picture-in-picture and several sources per episode.
    • Read manga and light novels next to the anime they come from.
    • Watch parties: invite friends and stay in sync, episode by episode.
    • Offline downloads for episodes, chapters and novels, with a quality cap and Wi-Fi only mode.
    • Anime4K upscaling in the player, which switches itself off when the phone can't keep up.
    • Sub or dub per title, and English or Español per series, with audio and subtitles picked right in the player.
    • Spanish anime, and the app itself in English and Spanish.
    • A schedule shown a day at a time, on a timeline.
    • Browse anime, manga and novels by collection and genre from Search.
    • Sparks: earn them by watching and reading, and spend them on profile cosmetics in the shop.
    • A universal APK for 32-bit phones and TV boxes.

    IMPROVED

    • The APK is down from 62 MB to 27 MB.
    • Rankings stay on screen while another period loads.
    • Going back returns to a screen that's already open instead of stacking another copy.

    FIXED

    • French servers are dependable to switch between.
    • Subtitle tracks are tidied up, and watch parties stay smoother.
    • The schedule no longer redraws day pages mid-swipe.
    • An incomplete recovery code now says so instead of doing nothing.
